Back pain: what causes it and how to cure

Back pain can occur due to problems in muscles, ligaments, cartilage, bones or nerves. But most often the pain is due to tension or tension in the muscles or ligaments in the lower back. This back pain is rarely severe and usually goes away on its own after a while.

What can I do?

Here are some tips for back pain:

Take it slowly for 2-3 days but do not lie in bed. Maintain a calmer activity such as walking but avoid long sets, avoid lifting objects and jump until the back pain has improved.

Try a stiffer mattress and use pillows to support e.g. below the knee at night.

It's okay to try over-the-counter painkillers in pharmacies.

Test the heat pack for 20 minutes every 2-4 hours, but be careful not to sleep with the heat pack.

Seek medical attention if the back pain has not started to improve in 3-4 weeks.

When to seek help?

Seek medical attention the next day if the following symptoms are associated with back pain:

Pain leads down to the buttocks or leg

Constant and severe pain that does not improve despite painkillers.

Frequent urination or pain during urination.

If you have diabetes, a weakened immune system you will need to take steroids regularly.

If you have had cancer and have been losing weight lately.

The pain is worse at night or when lying down.

Blisters, rashes and pain are in the same place as the pain.

Persistent numbness or tingling in the leg or leg.

Chronic loss of stool or urine control.

Fever with nausea / vomiting in men.
