It sets out 30 articles that describe the basic human rights that every person is entitled to. These include the right to freedom of opinion and expression, the right to a fair trial, and the right to education. The UDHR has been instrumental in promoting human rights around the world, and it has served as the basis for numerous human rights treaties and agreements.

 

Despite the many international agreements and declarations that have been made on human rights, violations continue to occur around the world. Human rights abuses take many forms, including discrimination, torture, arbitrary detention, and violence against women and children. Many countries have laws and policies in place that are intended to protect human rights, but these laws are not always enforced. In some cases, governments actively violate human rights in order to maintain their grip on power.

NGOs, human rights activists, and ordinary people all have a role to play in promoting and protecting human rights. By raising awareness about human rights abuses, advocating for change, and pressuring governments to uphold their commitments, we can work together to ensure that everyone's human rights are respected and protected.
